summers eve web

Just a reminder that you still have time to get the two free tickets I'm giving away for this event on the 23rd. All you have to do is leave a comment describing your ideal day or night on H Street (i.e. where do you go, what do you do, what do you eat, what do you drink, ect.). Register users are golden, but if you aren't registered, make sure you give me a way to know it's you when you email asking for your tickets. Tickets are courtesy of Rock & Roll Hotel. I'll be announcing the winner Friday.

An ideal night on H street starts at Taylor deli with a large meatball sub, chips and a fountain soda, continues on to Atlas Theater for an old-time movie, moves on to Sticky Rice for dancing and drinks, then ends at Capital City Diner for cheap (drunks) eats!

H St as we know it has ceased to exist for about a month:

Taylor seems to consistently have pork
PWI might have started operating like a competitive business. Even if they haven't Rita's picks up the Water Ice slack.
Beer Garten Haus is opened.

Can't come up with an awesome day/night, but the super disappointing day of finding Taylor with no pork, PWI closed, and BGH not open yet has become a fading memory.

Now if only Sticky Rice could figure out that "low and slow" applies to the preferred method of cooking bbq at low tempertature for a long time, and not taking a long time to assemble chilled fish and vegetables...

I guess this is my way of saying that I can't pick a sepcific way to have a great time on H St. Good times can't be scripted

My best times on H-Street almost always involve playing in a concert with the Capital City Symphony the Atlas- the best venue in town!! Followed by wine and a chill DJ at Sova and then stopping in for a slice of pie before a nightcap at Ms. Whiskey's. If only trivia night were the same night as our concerts! That would be MOST perfect :-)

My best nights on H St are on Saturday night. Roll down the windows in my pickup, put on Hot Saturday Night Jazz, and bring some chairs from the kitchen into the street and sit in the pickup bed. I'll be drinking some type of whiskey. Get to talk a bunch with the neighbors, and get the shit-eye from people passing through on the way to the bars.

My best night is on a Saturday night calling the police on the homeless lush in the pickup truck harassing the passerbyers and calling attention to himself and watching the popo haul him away to the tank. :-)

Most every Saturday starts with a wake call from my dog,it never fails. Some how she knows thats it's the weekend or could it be her being programed on the 6th day of each week that I fight with her over not eating the chicken bones left from the partiers in the neighborhood from various venues on the H street. Usually I'm hung over from the night before. The only relief is a cup of hot joe from Sidamos, usually around 930.After my cup of joe we stroll over to Metro Muts to purchase a cool treat for my dog. With my cup of joe and the dogs treat we head to the H Street Farmers Market to see whats for dinner.I normally pick up the pork tenderlions with yellow squash. Before I head home Its a must that treat myself to one of Dangerously Delicious Pies. Last but not least is the weekly scavenge hunt at The Salvation Army.

This party looks like wicked fun, but I can't help but wonder why Rock and Roll Hotel would bother throwing a big bash for a feminine care product. Really strange...

I want to take Dolemite to this party, but he gives me that, well, you know, not so fresh feeling.

Has anyone heard anything about the early morning bust/raid that happened near the corner of Holbrook and Queen St Thursday morning at 6 am?

There were at least 7 police cars (marked) three unmarked, and one Emergency Response Team vehicle (bad ars). I figured i would hear about it on the news, but i guess 6 am is too early for news people.

Regarding the raid:

More than 200 D.C. police officers and Drug Enforcement Administration agents seized more than $200,000 in drugs and arrested several people as part of an initiative aimed at repeat violent offenders.

Mayor Adrian Fenty, Police Chief Cathy Lanier and Ava Cooper-Davis, DEA Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Field Division, announced the bust Thursday. It was part of an operation that took place in parts of the Trinidad and Rosedale neighborhoods and in the 7th and O streets area.

Authorities obtained 46 arrest warrants, executed 21 search warrants and arrested several people on drugs and weapons charges. Seven guns and over $6,500 in cash were also seized.

Lanier says at least two of the arrests are connected to recent shootings

And this is now my new favorite H St day!
