We found this cat tonight around 7pm at the little park at the intersection of Maryland Avenue NE and D Street NE. Appears as though she may have been spooked by the storm and lost her way home; we don't recognize her from the neighborhood.
She's very friendly and affectionate; grey and white; interesting white mark on center of her back; pink collar with bell, but no tags.
We put fliers up around near northeast, but are hoping to find her owner soon. We have her in our house right now, but can’t keep her for long; she is locked up apart from our cats and dogs (5 in all - hence why we can't keep her). We will probably have to take her to the shelter 24-36 hours from now.
If she is yours, or you may know who she belongs to, please email me at:

As always I'll post any status updates. Including this post we've had seven postings about lost or found pets on Frozen Tropics since May of 2010. So far five of those seven pets have made it home. The ones still missing are this cat, and the dog I posted info for on Friday. Let's keep our eyes open, and our pet reconnection stats high.

While were are still seeking to identify this cat, I wanted to let people know that the dog from Friday is now safely back home with his owners. His name is Eddie. So now 6/7 pets posted here since May have made it back home.

Bailey the cat is back home. From Tracy:
Thank you for posting the "found" kitty and thanks to all of your readers! Bailey was reunited with her parents tonight - less than 24 hours since we found her!
Frozen Tropics is 7/7 in reuniting pets with parents!

I'd suggest putting the cat close to where she was found to see if she can find her way home! She likely lives close by, and seems well taken care of.
If she is still wandering around a few hours later, then I'd say she is 'lost.'
If you haven't already, please take her by the Humane Society or WARL and see if she is microchipped!
I'm pretty sure she was lost; she was outside for several hours yesterday - and got stuck in a tree to boot; she was wandering around not knowing where to go and getting spooked by cars. And thanks for the reminder on the microchip; I will swing by Union Vet tonight to see if that is the case. Trying to hold on to her as long as we can so she can get back home.
Tracey, be sure to contact the Humane Society regardless...202-234-8626. Their owners may have already reported their cat missing with them. I've found one lost dog's owner that way already. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for all of the tips; I did send a flyer to Union Vet and they shared it with the Humane Society earlier today. I've also posted it to every Web site I can think of and will put out more flyers on the south side of the Hill and around H tonight. Let's keep up Frozen Tropics' record of reuniting pets and their parents!
Thanks frozen tropics....this is a great idea for a lost pet. I'm sure the 6/7 were glad to have found their love ones.
There's a black female dog that has been hanging around my back door a number of mornings lately. I took my camera today to photograph it but it wasn't there. It always looks at me like I might feed it or something but doesn't look malnourished. I started putting water out there given the heat.
