Apparently some people are pretty callous...and very stupid. I'm told there wasn't really anything to take. But that didn't stop an intruder from trying. Seriously, what kind of loser tries to rob a place that's just burned down?
The Argo reports that MPD is
fingerprinting the scene now.

They found lots of prints on window sill, ac unit, downstairs juke cash collection box, and gum ball machine. Hoping for a match!

That's Terrible!
They'll get a match, they'll make an arrest, and then the US Atty's office will choose not to paper the case.
Curmudgeon,
the prints were almost all in places that very few people would ever have the opportunity to touch. I think I've they get a print match they will probably move forward. Cases get no papered because there are problems with the cases.
Inked -- perhaps I'm being careless with my terminology and should have said "pursue" or "prosecute" rather than "paper." Yes, sometimes it's because there are problems with cases. Very often, however, it's for other reasons which are not so easy to accept. At least, that's what I've been told by many DC police personnel I've spent time with, from frustrated patrol officers right up to a frustrated First District commander at the December carjacking meeting at Options Middle School. They could all be misleading me, I suppose.
I hope the people who have been whining about the iron bars on the windows at Ethiopic will take notice - thugs and thieves continue to rampage in our neighborhood.
