That's right, through the efforts of The Hill is Home, and Biergarten Haus (1355 H Street), the latter has generously agreed to offer a sweet discount to neighborhood bloggers and their readers. So, all who show up for brunch this Sunday with PRINTED coupon in hand (not on your iphone) can shave 15% off their bill. But it's ONLY GOOD for 8/22 from 11am-3pm. And just a reminder, because it sucks when someone "forgets," but PLEASE tip on the original undiscounted total.

Cafe Berlin has a much better brunch.
Hey! Do you post political news? If so, please contact me at stephen.reese@gmail.com.
Thanks!!
Awesome, I'll be there. Their blueberry pancakes are fantastic, but I wish there was a choice of sides for the wurst, however, just like there is at dinner.
I hate to nitpick (actually, that's not true.... I love to nitpick), but why does the coupon have to be printed? Most places will accept viewing the coupon on your iphone. It's more environmentally friendly and easier for the customer (a lot of people don't actually have home printers these days, as so much can be done with pdf and the like online).
It's not like the paper version will have a barcode that they need for ringing the sale up, does it?
Why only 15%? They are basically saying do not worry about the tip.
12:34,
I hope that's just an unfunny joke. It's a gift discount. If it's too small for you then don't go. You probably shouldn't go anyway if you really don't plan to tip.
people who dont tip are soulless
Inked,
FWIW, I read 12:34's comment as pointing out that the 15% discount basically is just equal to a 15% tip, so Biergarten is just comping guests the amount of their tip. I did not think that s/he was advocating not leaving a tip.
It's not clear to me why I'm defending an anonymous blog poster.
My mistake, and sorry to 12:34 if I misread your post. Looking at it again that does appear to be the more logical reading.
12:34, I think the better way to look at it is that you will be paying less--period--that's more you can eat and drink for the same price.
If they hadn't put anything on the coupon, the same rules would apply--you're supposed to tip on the original amount because that's the amount of service you got. They probably only pointed out the gratuity rule because people get so excited to use the coupon, they forget that the server did the same amount of work.
Having worked in the restaurant business, it's a little damned if you do, damned if you don't kind of situation...

if you're tipping 15% YOU ARE CHEAP!
