Why would anyone put chimichurri sauce on a crabcake? You wouldn't be able to taste the crab. That's like drowning a steak in A1 or ketchup. More power to them, but they'll have a hard time beating Sullivan's 1/2 pounder. THAT's a crabcake.
Looks like a cool place. Menu looks interesting. I just hope they aren’t overshooting the neighborhood. Everything look pretty fancy. Where are the prices going to be? Is is going to be way overpriced like Beergarten and DDP or just right like Liberty Tree and all of the established spots. You already see a change in the crowd on H especially during the weekends when the Adams Morgan type come down to the Beergarten house. I just hope that all these new places don’t start to draw a similar crowd.

That rule only holds if the quotation marks are enclosing someone's speech. Anon 8:24 was correct as written. Stick to eating the glue and wiping your nose on your shirtsleeve, smartass.
Mel, Point 1: You have apparently been watching my disgusting habits through my office window Point 2: You have no idea what you are talking about. (look it up) You should probably stick to using punctuation for emoticons until you get a feel for their actual use. Point 3. I'm officially a huge nerd for debating this. Apologies to all. I deserve a swirlie.
Wow, nice grammatical thread hijacking--must everything be an arguement? Smith Commons looks like a great addition to the area--perhaps a bit more restaurant mixed in with the bar? Are we not often complaining about the potential imblanace toward bars/latenight haunts on H? Anyways, pick this post apart however you see fit, I am just happy to see another place opening here in the midst of construction and recession.
Is the period inside air quotes or outside? The weather finally cools down and look what happens. I think it's kind of limiting to expect every place that comes to h to be inexpensive. H street deserves more than "cheese" "balls.". Speaking of which, deliveries have been sporadic, but the pug will be serving boliquesos for restaurant week. Oh, and one more thing, inked, stop by sometime, i've got a little check for that mini ice war fundraiser we did. tonyt the pug.
In this case the period does not go inside the quotes. It could if the site itself read "Sneak Peak." with a period, but it didn't and so it shouldn't. Which is moot, as they've already fixed the misspelling.
The menu sounds more interesting than tempting, but not bad.
Anyone hear the latest on when they are supposed to open. Uh-oh, hope this doesnt start a soft opening debate. Anyway, just want to know when I can look forward to grabbing some food and drink here.
People get a life....Remember when H street didnt offer many options for resturants a couple of years ago....Just be thankful that we have more than your neighborhood carry-outs...a ten year home owner of off H street.
more bike racks is a great idea. i think comment sections like these should be used for idea sharing. maybe they could incorporate useful ideas before they open. just a thought. it will be nice to have more neighborhood options. anything that saves me a drive is awesome.
Likewise, the Associated Press Stylebook (not available free online) states: “Follow these long-established printers’ rules: -- The period and comma always go within the quotation marks. -- The dash, the semicolon, the question mark and the exclamation point go within the quotation marks when they apply to the quoted matter only. They go outside when they apply to the whole sentence.”

Their website offers a "sneak peak".
Illiteracy knows no bounds.

If you're going to complain about Biergarten Haus, would it kill you to figure out how it's spelled first?
I don't care how it's spelt, you got my message smart ass.

slightly off topic, but the 7-11 will open Aug 23rd and will be open 24hrs.
It's not related to smith pt, is it?
All of these new Restaurants/bars are great for the area, but where are the bike racks!! there aren't any outside of Sticky Rice. More bike racks!!
Pug's boliquesos are the best! Thanks Tony!

and if sticky rice doesn't even have bike racks outside, that is a problemo!! just saying.
American English always puts commas and periods inside quotation marks, regardless of whether they are part of the quoted material.
(British style puts periods and commas either inside or outside, depending on whether they are part of the quoted material.)
But rather than just asserting stuff, let's look it up!
The Chicago Manual of Style states flatly: "Periods and commas precede closing quotation marks, whether double or single."
http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/16/ch06/ch06_sec009.html
Likewise, the Associated Press Stylebook (not available free online) states:

i don't like that grammar rule, so i'm going to break "it".
period outside the quotes all the way.
i like it when i said, "period outside the quotes all the way.".
two!
