There was a TON of police activity at 8th and H about an hour ago. Not sure if it's related.
What are the chances that tomorrow, when brief blurbs about this shooting appear on the news pages of the local TV affiliates, such blurbs will refer to the shooting as occurring "in the violence-plagued Trinidad neighborhood"?

Be alert, i've seen a slight uptick in mugging/robberies.

Fortunately, it doesn't appear that there were injuries in either incident. In addition to the uptick in muggings, MPD-1D says there has been an increase in burglaries. All of this tends to dim the post-festival glow.
Where are these burglaries happening?
On sunday evening 1300 block of h and then that nite in front of h&d.

Police came to my door last night and asked if we had heard anything in the day. It appears that there was a burglary on the 1200 block of Florida yesterday afternoon.
Re: burglaries/break-ins, there've been several discussions of an increase in burglaries on the MPD-1D mailing list. The daily crime reports seem to show an uptick in the area between 10th, 13th, Florida and H, as well as south of H in between 10th and 14th down to D. That's a large area, I know. Shere were two very near me (12th and E) during the afternoon of the Festival.
