Curbside Cupcake Takes the Curby

Local food truck Curbside Cupcake won the coveted Curby Award at the first annual Curbside Cookoff. Twenty area food trucks participated, and Curbside emerged victorious. Contestants were judged on popularity. Congratulations guys! Keep up the good work. Here's a photo of one of the owners accepting the award.

What a load of BS! It's not even real food. They had an unfair advantage because their cupcakes are cheap and quick and they could serve more people and get more votes. If I was Sauca or someone else I'd file a lawsuit. Why dont we just allow a crack truck next year? They'll probably win

i somewhat agree. but the structure of the event made it difficult to sample food from multiple trucks. you spent your entire lunch time waiting in one line. and lets not forget that many trucks ran out of food before 2pm on both days.

but, curbside cupcake's winning might actually reflect their popularity. besides fojol bros, they are the longest running. the other trucks just popped up this summer. if youre a food truck follower you could probably name all 20 (with 5 more ready to hit the road), but most people really have no clue about the whole thing.

curbside has had over a year to build up a following. they can tweet 4 people in the department of agriculture and within minutes half the building knows. but how many of those people can name three other trucks?

so the winner of a cook off for food trucks was a group that doesn't actually cook their product on board?

Since when does popularity mean the "best?" If that were the case, McDonalds would be the "best restaurant in thr world!"

It was a popularity contest. Settle down. just a cupcake and a meaningless award. The world will somehow manage to keep spinning on its axis.
