Thread-jack: Does anyone know why the Kingman Island cleanup is on Friday and not Saturday? Is this how it usually is? http://www.kingmanisland.org/14233.html
Thank you for posting about our upcoming meeting. The official CHNNA boundaries are from the train tracks to 8th NE, and Florida to G. But of course all are welcome to attend on Saturday, and I know that the streetcar discussion in particular should be of interest to many of our neighbors on the East side of H as well as in Trinidad.

Proposed line on 8th and florida? This is news to me. Where will this line run?
Anon 4:54 -- the proposed lines would run on 8th Street and on Florida Avenue.
Anon 4:54 -- more seriously, take a look at the District's Future Transit Plan, which has a map showing all the proposed lines. You can see the line that starts in Anacostia, goes up 8th Street to Florida Avenue, and goes out Florida Avenue/U Street/18th Street/Calvert to Woodley Park.
Personally, I think by the time the money and the political will to make this all happen could be found, we'll all be travelling on personal jetpacks and won't need streetcars anymore; but who knows?
It amazes me how many people comment on the streetcar while admitting to not having done ANY basic research into the planned system.
Part of this, of course, is that DDOT's new website is a bit of a disaster. Hard to find information on projects there.
By the way, the Florida and 8th St. lines are historic lines (i.e. streetcars ran there into the 50s).
