Tacos Impala First Taste
The beef and carnitas tacos. Photo by Jason
Tacos Impala is a new taco stand venture from two guys who are no strangers to H Street. They're cooking up some tasty tacos just for you. Right now the menu is carnitas, braised beef, or bean and cotija cheese, tacos. Tacos come on two corn tortillas with cilantro, onions, sliced radish, and a lime wedge. You can then choose either a mild, or hot, salsa. I sampled the beef and pork, and preferred the first, but enjoyed both. Next time I plan to check out the bean tacos, as I have heard good reviews (including one shouted by a passing motorist after I had ordered). Tacos run $3 each, and you can wash them down with a Mexican Coke, or Jarritos. 1204 H Street. Open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Late night hours on weekends.

Just sampled a couple taco's this evening. Let me tell you it was really tasty well seasoned and the fresh made tortilla pops in your mouth . Prob the best I have had in the city. My usual go to is Taqueria Distrito Federal in Columbia Heights. Congrads guys your my new taco shop
That dude in the photo is the love child of frank zappa and gene simmons!!!
Funny, autocorrect on the iPad wanted to chain simmons to "simians". Good job, Steve JOBS!

Denim Jesus!
Sampled all three last night and they were tasty. Waiting outside in the wind was not too fun.
Hooray for tacos, but what happened to Philadelphia Water Ice??
Is there any indication that there might be some taco offerings for those of us who don't eat beef or pork? Chicken or Turkey tacos, perahps? I welcome a legit taco stand - maybe they'll even include a salsa bar for added authenticity.
yeah really, did something happen to PWI?
10:22 and 12:01,
PWI typically closes down for the winter. Rita's does the same thing. They are seasonal business. Tacos Impala is subleasing the space in the off months.
If this is as good as TDF, then this place might now be my fave food on H St. Hopefully they'll take phone orders, because I can see this place getting crowded. People go nuts for tacos. PWI? Who cares? This place is an upgrade and I haven't even eaten there yet
Isnt it aweseome when places just open without any lead up? No delays and blowing past openings by 6 months...
I'd just like to point out, that all those commas, are not necessary, or even desirable.
Any chance the water ice lady decides to let the Taco man take over completely?
Delicioso!
I love this. Arlington has Baja Fresh, but we have this cool little taco stand. They have Starbucks, but we have the coolest coffee shops around, Sidamo and SOVA. This really makes me homesick. Enjoy!
the tacos are damn good. had 3 last night. they just need to work out the usual start-up kinks. word to the wise: you'd better do it quickly tacos impala, you're going to be very popular with the 20- and 30-something overindulged/overserved set very soon. I can see it coming.
OMG! Troy! Get a haircut, hippie!
How does that look in a hairnet, anyway?
Cassie misses Charlie!
I heard the tacos were awesome, and they're going to be open late to serve the bar crowds. Awesome plan and I can't wait to try them!
I got just one beef with Tacos Impala... they failed to "Al Pastor-ize" their tacos... how cool would it be to be walking up and down H st without seeing an Al Pastor spit right by the window.
Looking for a pastor...
you suck!
blue horseshoe loves annacot steel ----- is that your code word for buy stock in Hst taco's now??
Great tag BTW
