Car Crashes Into Starburst CVS.

Poor Starburst CVS! First it's mice, and suspended food licenses, and then that cat tackling incident. Now a car has crashed into the place.

Here's the Twitter report from HstreetDC:

HstreetDC
A car mistook main entrance to Starburst CVS for drive-thru pharmacy? Closed while @dcfireems handles minor damage. No injuries

When did this happen? What were all the sirens around 5:30 yesterday afternoon?

Kenny G,
you forgot:

Car Crashes into Checkers;

Car Crashes Through Fence in Checkers Parking Lot Onto Neighbors Sitting in Yard Nextdoor;

Car Cashes Into Occupied House on Montello;

My Nextdoor Neighbor Drives His Car Into His House.

This theme goes deeper than it first appears.

That may have been from the gunfire in the 900 blk of 5th, NE yesterday. There were a ton of cops and the entire block was closed off with police tape. MPD posted on the MPD 1-D listserve that one of the houses was shot at repeatedly but there were no injuries reported. There's no lookout at this point.

the crashes are a type of gang initiation. multiple sources exist online.

@11:48,
Um, or just bad driving. We don't have much organized gang activity over here. It might be better to findout how many of the drivers either stuck around, or were actively evading police at a high speed at the time they crashed (both account for more than one instance). Both situations would argue against gang initiation to me.

@11:48,
can you produce four confirmed incidents of people crashing cars into businesses/houses as part of a gang initiation? I kind of doubt that you can easily do so. It seems to be more of an urban legend about MS-13 car bumping.
