PoP: Indian Food Succeeding Naby's?

Prince of Petworth is reporting a rumor that a high end Indian restaurant may have leased the space formerly occupied by Naby's Island (12th and H, right across from Horace and Dickie's). I can confirm that the space was recently leased, but I do not know who leased the space, or for what purpose.

I miss Naby's a lot, but a great Indian restaurant would help me get over it. Now I just need to find another spot to get my ackee & saltfish fix...

They don't call me Curry Tony for nothing. Betwen this (vindaloo, please) and Ryan's curry of the day, i'll be set for a while.

The rib tip was awesome but their hours really made it hard for me to be a regular customer. Indian food would be a great addition to the H.

Awesome! Here's hoping it's true!

High end Indian? A recent profile of Ashok Bajaj noted that he's planning another restaurant: "A seventh is on its way - Bajaj hasn't made any announcements, but in this city where secrets always leak, savvy insiders are already gossiping about his plans for an Indian restaurant near the Ritz-Carlton in the West End."

Can always dream, right? Maybe the West End rumors are a diversion? Full disclosure: I know nothing... just putting 2 + 2 together to make 743.

High end usually means high prices. Hopefully it will be a normally priced, quality restaurant with amazing food.

On a side note, I got to peek inside the new location for HR-57 on H St and from what I could see from the sidewalk, it looks great inside! I'm pretty excited! We'll have a bonafide high quality jazz club in the neighborhood. Great news!
