Place has been slated to be opening in 4-6 weeks for two years now. Becoming a JOKE! Get your s*it together, pull yourself up and get it done Toki. Enough already I seriously want to try your food before 2025

Thanks for the kind words. Opening a small business during this economic period can be a real challenge but all of us small business owners do our best to keep our head above water. I hope when you finally come to Toki and see all the hard work we put into the design, and the food you can appreciate it... because we will appreciate your business.

bests,
Erik

I think Laugh exaggerates more than a bit. Toki's had some delays, but nothing much beyond the norm. I'm certain they'll be open soon, and packed pretty much every night.

It has been a long hype.

I have been waiting since I read about you opening up in the Washington Business Journal in 2009. Please hurry, hurry, hurry before I forget about you guys

The Toki guys have done a great job of building the hype. I sure hope the product can live up to what have become very, very high expectations.

kudos to Erik for taking the high road with all these cynics! considering the improbable success of Tacos Impala, i'd put my money on Toki being a great success. looking forward to having this option for food close by.

Jeebus, I don't know why anyone bothers to open restaurants here. Yeah, you might make some money; but you won't make your money back for quite some time, and in the meantime you have to put up with self-absorbed whiners with extreme senses of entitlement like post here. "Laugh OUT LOUD!", I'm sure your life has been absolutely, utterly destroyed by the delay in their opening. I honestly don't know how you've survived, but kudos to you for pulling through.

yep, it's so cool to be a lair these days, and call everyone a self absorbed whiner.

I agree with anonymous 11:32 PM. Some of the comments on here are absurd. If a delayed opening of a ramen noodle joint is your biggest problem, then consider yourself pretty lucky, or learn to make your own damn noodles.

Good luck, Toki Underground. I look forward to visiting.

Erik,

Can't wait to consume large amounts of dumplings and noodles. After hearing some of the horror stories of opening businesses in DC, I have to respect anyone who has survived through the ordeal. Almost every owner I have spoken to on H remarks that they aren't sure they would do it again if they knew ahead of time how much they would have to put up with from DC gov't.

But back to the dumplings. Can't wait!!!

Erik, as a small biz owner that saw about a year delay in opening due to unforeseen hiccups, red-tape and general "what the hell next?" moments, I say forget these morons in their cubicles that haven't ever, nor ever will, understand what it takes to create a business rather than push paper for the man.

Godspeed.

@Erik,

I'm with @laugh: You lazy bastards! Give me my dumplings!

Oh, also too, I want to pre-complain about the fact that it'll take me an hour and half to get a table when I go there at 8:30pm on a Saturday night.

And the fact that, the waiter will inevitably forget to bring me my water.

And finally, a brief pre- pre-complaint that you guys used to be so much cooler when you first opened, but now it's just hipsters from Franconia, Lincolnia, and Estonia. The service has (will have been) going downhill for a while.

What will have been happened???
