I missed this note in my inbox this morning:
This cat followed my wife home from around 7th & K NE. She is VERY friendly, well-groomed and has a collar. She seems to be very light (perhaps my cats are just very heavy :)) and VERY hungry (we couldn't help but give her a little food). However, the number on the collar is disconnected. Unfortunately we have 3 cats of our own and could not bring her into the warmth or hold on to her in case someone does know where she belongs. A few neighbors said she was around last night as well. She followed my wife for a couple blocks, and followed us back to where she started as well. She came to our basement door hours after we got home. I can't say for sure where she will be tomorrow, but if anyone does know her, perhaps this will help to locate her. The name on her collar reads "Macy Cat".
I hope this helps her find her way back home!
If you know this cat, send me an email at inked78[at]hotmail.com and I will put you in contact with the note's author.

Ok the previous comment was mean and pointless. Editors, please remove it.
Please keep us informed. We saw the cat 2 nights ago and want to make sure she gets home.
What does the cat look like? Color?
hi, i'm the wife of the reader that wrote in. my husband also wrote to PoP w/ a pic of the cat. here's a link (last picture):

we haven't seen her since wednesday night, so we're hoping maybe she's already found her way back home.
This cat was waiting at my house when my wife & I got back from dinner tonight. Grey & white, well groomed, and very friendly. Oh, and very hungry. We fed her a little, but have a cat already, and are expecting our first child soon, and cannot have another. I tried the number on the tag, but it was disconnected. I googled the number (202) 547-7850, but it is disconnected.
I googled the number, and came up with an Elizabeth A Duffy at 1301 South Carolina SE. Not sure if this is right, or not, but ring a bell for anyone?
Check that-success! I 411d ms Duffy, and got a number. Called with "I know this is a random question, but are you missing a cat?". Turns out I found the right person. The family had just moved, and the cat jumped out of her car while dropping the kids off at school last Friday. She's on her way over right now to get the cat. Woo!
Wonderful!
this is seriously awesome! NoMa, i'm so glad you found macy cat's owner. i had considered googling the phone number but didn't think that would do anything. she was such a sweet cat and i'm glad she's back home safe and sound.
Macy is a lucky cat and the humans who helped her are wonderful.
