Khan's is crazy. Stir fry, aged whiskey, sports bar, beer towers on the porch... it's all over the place.

I love it.

I love it too! Great atmosphere and always polite there. Definitely throwing a exciting mix to the H street Corridor . Way to go Khans!

There are some good parts to Khans but it isn't all good. I have a few criticisms. They regularly use the same cooking swords to mix cooked food that they just used on raw chicken. I've seen it happen twice. The cook mixes the raw meat then right away scoops the cooked food onto a plate. Not at all sanitary.

Secondly there are limited veggies. No snap peas or cherry tomatoes just to name two.

Thirdly, I think 15 dollars for a chicken stir fry without even a piece of flat bread is too high. Anyone remember Flat Top grill in Ballston? That place went out of business a few years ago but the food was SO much better. Quality shrimp, great bread, and amazing veggies. If they couldn't make it, I don't know how Khans will survive. I really want them to but unless they step it up, it doesn't look good to me.

won't go back to khans said...

as khans was cited for that very offense back in april..as it is a violation of food safety standards. i would suggest if you see them using the same swords on raw chicken and cooked meats..or using the swords on shell fish, then other foods (shellfish allergy) please call dc department of health food safety division at (202) 535-2180 and report what you saw...this could potentially be dangerous to folks.

we've been over this khans raw meat thing before. my theory is at least they do it out in the open. they arent hiding anything. god knows what happens in kitchens you cant see. i also think the swords might be hot enough themselves to kill the bacteria. the last thing they want is a law suit and a bad rep. they have probably looked into this.

I love Khan's! Delicious. And the selection of veggies is terrific. If you haven't tried it, you should.
