Queen Vic Executive Chef Resigns
Executive Chef Adam Stein has resigned from British Gastropub the Queen Vic (1206 H Street). Stein had been a part of the project since long before the restaurant opened. No word on where Stein is headed, or who will replace him.

I guess this was the "maintenance" in their "kitchen closed for maintenance" tweet last night.
There are plenty of great chefs in the city... The Queen Vic will work things out. This really does seem like a post aimed at promoting gossip. I feel for the restaurant owner, and I'm not sure he would want this news posted on Frozen Tropics where people are likely to speculate all sorts of things.
The gossip mill is true, though we did not tweet "Adam Stein has left the building", we are still looking into who did that and how they got into our account. Adam was with The Vic from the start and created an amazing menu and for that we have only the most respect for him and wish him all the best for the future. We are very excited about the new chef that is joining us (don't worry, we will still be serving all the favourites), and we will be in touch in the next week to officially let you all know more about the new talent! In the meantime, we may be offering a slightly limited menu but will do our absolute best to get back to serving a full menu with specials as soon as we can. Thanks all for your support and understanding Ryan and Roneeka
Hi Ryan and Roneeka, thanks for chiming in on this one. I posted this info based on an email from Chef Adam. It simply said that he had resigned. As far as I'm concerned, that's all I need to know. It's between him and management. I thought that Queen Vic had sent the tweet, and both sides were acknowledging the departure. The Queen Vic is a great spot, and I'm sure they'll get past this stumbling block.
Anon 6:02, Walter from the Black Supermarket got hit last week by a pick up truck that was turning left onto Florida from 13th. Walter was in the hospital a couple days but he is back now and doing okay. That intersection is pretty dangerous. Got to wait a few extra seconds before crossing to make sure the Maryland drivers actually stop. Glad Walter is okay.
*I* heard that the Queen Vic is going to be taken over by a bunch of surly bartenders of questionable orientation, increase their menu offerings, turn up the club music on their stereo, and start offering life lesbian folk music on a weekly basis, then close in a matter of months to become a burger joint that may never open. Pass it on!
It's very telling that people feel obliged to address someone as "Chef", whereas professors are on first name, doctor consultations are skipped altogether in favor of the internet, and your friends' little snot nosed kids call you and your adult friends by first name like they're old college budies.

I hope this isn't the end of their awesome fish and chips :(
Always the gossip mill here...
The food was just too damn good. Now we get the authentic crappy English grub such as stale bread with our tea sandwiches and plow mans lunch.

The Queen tweeted that he left the building.

Cut the sh*t folks. These are peoples lives and businesses we're talking about. We're better than this h street.

will the sausages still be hand-stuffed? Cause that's all I care about...
Sounds like a financial issue based on my experience

opinions are like assholes...ya'll know the rest
Please keep the bone marrow!!!
Wow. The self-absorbed entitlement-filled scumbag level of posters on this blog just goes up and up and up.
This is good for the Vic. Stein's food was not that great, and his brunch was nothing short of tragic.
