Sorry for the anemic postings this week. During a recent storm my Comcast cable wire got knocked down and was lying on the ground in the alley. Despite repeated calls, Comcast failed to fix the issue and about a week and a half later the wire became tangled in the wheel of a passing car (ripping it off the pole, and out of my wall). So, I don't currently have the internet at home, and that's cutting into my research and posting time.

I've found telling utility companies that "children are playing in the area" helps motivate them to do what they should more quickly.
That's Comcast's legendary customer service for you.
I'm sorry you're having to put up with that, Elise; but it really is just what I expect from them.
I've had excellent luck with getting a Verizon problem solved by reporting the problem to the DC public service commission. You can do it online.
I apologize for the inconvenience. I work for Comcast. Please feel free to reach out to me for assistance. I can reach out to my contacts to ensure that this is taken care of for you.
Thanks,

Sadly this is not surprising at all. I've had numerous issues with Comcast over the past few years and they are usually slow to respond, have no idea what they are talking about and have NEVER shown up on time. Let's all hope that when FIOS arrives in more parts of the city this competition will improve things for everyone. Hope they get someone out soon to reconnect you!
comcastcares1,
Thanks for responding. I am happy to report that a repair person called today while I was not home and requested permission to drill into my house to reattach the wire. He did a very good job, and my internet is now up and running again. The process was frustrating, but I'm happy now, and I will say that I have generally found Comcast to be vastly superior to Verizon (who stood me up for six consecutive appointments).
Interesting that Comcast has people (or computers?) trolling the internet for negative comments about them.
When is FiOS coming to this neighborhood???
