Men placard the future home of Sol Mexican Grill

A new restaurant serving Tex-Mex fare will replace the Chinese carryout Danny's. The restaurant will feature a full bar, seating for 35, and a maximum occupancy of 49 patrons. The ABRA application (tavern license) also mentions plans for a small summer garden. Want to try their food before they open? Nice, we are going to be spoiled with way too many food options pretty soon.

Prince of Petworth reported Tacos Impala had a stop work order on their building the other day. Anyone know why?

Holy fuckin' shit, a Mexican place displacing a carry out? Victory.

Sol is a pretty good food truck. This should be a great addition to H Street.

12:55 12/17/2011,
Inspectors seem to have hit multiple spots on H Street that same day (or at least around the same time period). Most citations appeared to before exceeding the limits of their permits.

Speaking of tacos, I had a taco on saturday night from the taco stand next to queen Vic. It was fuckin' delish! But the stock photo used on this blog with the two women in the window needs to be updated. Those two bitches ain't making the tacos. It's some other ho making those delish tacos!

Guys,
Please do cool it with the language (particularly if you are using it just to use it). It's clearly a turnoff for some readers. Plus, my mom does sometimes sometimes read the comments, and I rather she not think all FT readers are either morons, or nine year old boys.

11:16,
The photo to which you refer is of Tacos Impala. The taco you ate was from Philadelphia Water Ice. Two completely different businesses that have used the same window at different time. Expect to see a restaurant from the team behind Tacos Impala come to the 1300 block of H Street next year.

So it's official, Danny's will no longer be the best Asian food between 12th and 13th.

At least will still have *GOOD* Danny's, right? Right?

I hope the next one to go is Crown Fried Chicken between 7th and 8th.

Hey, who you callin a 9-year old boy!??!

2:07,
Personally, I'm more concerned with finding good tenants to fill the empty spaces that still line the Corridor.

I hope Crown Chicken closes as well. That intersection makes me feel uncomfortable. You have to decide to either walk by the chicken place or by the people waiting/loitering for the 90s bus. It just doesn't feel safe.

Darn, I hate to see danny's go. Two blocks from my house. Don't want to walk several more blocks to get my Chinese fix on a cold winters night.
I'm a 30 year resident & white.
What next Horace & Dickie ?

I would be fine with people standing on 8th and H waiting for the bus. In reality they are just loitering, littering, and using some of this corners as bathrooms. I leave half a block from there and it is pretty disgusting to see sometimes what goes on there.

Yeah, it's pretty nasty there at 8th and H. Kind of an undesirable element...

i *love* poo! said...

8th and H is gross. i don't know what is worse, the "florida market' on weekends and mornings, or 8th on any given day. although, i have to say 8th was the first place i've ever been called a "cracker motherfucker".

hide that from your mom, inked.

So where's Danny going? It was comforting to have him there as I walk home at 1 a.m.

Eh, 8th and H has been a circus forever. Easiest place to score cheap smack.
