The City Paper has the scoop on the new pizza place coming to 1118 H Street. If all goes well, H and Pizza (formerly Kith and Kin) will open by early June.

Re: the press release:
I'll order my pizza's with a healthy smattering of unnecessary apostrophe's, plea'se.
i don't want to be negative, But, I do not have high hopes for this place. first it was "kith and kin", which i think was a fine name, but wasn't descriptive enough, and now... it's too descriptive/generic. it's bad to judge a book by its cover, but if TruOrleans is any indication of this negative correlation between awful name and awful restaurant, "H &pizza" is next up on the list of places that I wish would go out of business so a better restaurant can come in its place. again, not trying to be negative, but this write up in the city papter leaves something to be desired. i hope they prove me wrong. TruOrleans didn't...
Morse & Holbrook. Power is back on now, but was out for several hours right after work. So much for doing laundry! Thankfully H St had power, so I could eat dinner...
You can't name the place Home Slice (love that name however) - b/c they don't sell slices. 1 pie fits all. Sounds like personal pies. Its great how haters gonna hate even though they haven't even tried the place. That's how we roll in DC -- bamas beWARE
Sorry, forgot to agree with anonymous that Home Slice has to be out since it is so contrary to what they are doing.
But that Pizza Factory idea...kind of hits the nail on the head. I mean you are walking up assembly-line style and having them construct your pizza. H Street (location) Pizza Factory (perfect description)...I might really like that name.
12:13, Birdland was a a short lived soul food restaurant. There was a bit of a fight with ANC 6A regarding whether or not they were a fastfood restaurant. For this reason they used real dishes. You walked in, ordered at the counter, and they brought your food to you at a both. You could place orders to go, but if you wanted to eat there, you had to have a plate. The food was decent, but they had a tendancy to play loud music.
ANC 6A lost it's war with CluckU, so maybe that's why Taylor and Shawafel exists. It seemed to be mostly a personal thing by a lawyer that had too much time on his hands. Too bad, the ANC gave the man traction.
I went to Birdland once and even then didn't hardly finish my meal after I saw the "cook" doing up some food with gloves on, then go to the cash register and make change for someone still with gloves on...nasty

Anybody else in Trinidad have no power right now?
I'm fine in the 1200 block of Florida. Where are you?
Power in the 1300 block of Florida is out.

Stoplights were out all along Maryland, and the first couple lights on Bladensburg after the starburst (that was fun).
I know someone on here rally dislikes it, but I don't get it...H & Pizza doesn't really sound that bad to me. What would you name it?
HV,
Home Slice
or
Boundry Slice
Frank from SOVA
Righteous Za
or
H Street Pizza Factory
PEPCO said 3400 residents were out of power in NE last night.
Anon 5:00, thats a lot of words to show how much you dont want to be negative.

H and Pizza? Yeah horrible name. It's clunky. Maybe they'll go by HaP's or something either to say.
Try it out if you want. If it sucks, it has nothing to do with the name.
Why not Bama Pizza? That's the market they're after.
Home Slice, that's hilarious! I like H Street Pizza Factory too...gives me that industrial Taylor's feeling about it.
I'm just too easy to please.

Question for the lontimers: what was Birdland? Anything remarkable about it other than the weird name?
How about (H)ipster Pie...
haha.
Pizza Boner. That'd bring so character to h street
*some character

Can't wait to go home and get some Crown Chicken.
Funny how places like Birdland and Cluck-U get singled out as being fast food and yet places like Taylor and Shawafel get a pass.
That is a good point ro.

Considering the current pizza options the bar could not be lower.
