Reader John Healey sends in a photo he took of Sky Nails on Bladensburg Road. We previously discussed the closing of Sky Nails and the rumor that it could become condos. The rumor comes from what the owner of Sky Nails reportedly told a customer. I don't really see condos at that location, given the new luxury apartments right across the street (and condos down the road). It will be interesting to see what does happen to this parcel of land, which is certainly valuable at this point.

Being right next to that gas station, I seriously doubt they would become condos. A fast food joint most likely - a Danny's perhaps.

As much as I don't see condos, I also don't see this becoming a Danny's style carryout. What I'd like to know is if the same guy owns this property as owns the former methadone clinic next door. If it is the same owner, that gives someone a big parcel.
Maybe HTJ can bring in a Denny's to kill the other Denny's.
Im going to say more Apartments. Most new construction I see around the city is Apartments.
Why would they gut it if they're going to put in apartments or condos? Wouldn't they just bulldoze it or tear the roof off first?
I have no clue, but I'm leaning towards a retail, office or restaurant leased place.
I would say apartments/condos. Why not? Literally yards away from a future streetcar stop. Across the street from major commercial developments and shopping. Could not be much nearer to H-street nightlife.
Blandensburg Road has got to look like a clean canvas to developers with all the vacant and nasty marginal, non-historical buildings waiting to be leveled. Developers look 5-10-20 years down the road.
I hope its some kind of retail or someplace to eat or drink. Ill be disappointed if its just condos or apartments.

Its going to be a 7-11. 13 existing parking spaces to remain.
And for those that need to know every detail, Harrison French & Associates is designing the refacing and interior layout.
I can't think of a better place for a 5 guys.
7-Eleven is perfect for that location.

Skynails is now on Benning road...around the 2500 block, I think.
Have you seen Sky Nails as of today (Monday)? They don't look like they are wasting any time. Maybe we can get that team to tackle all future construction projects in DC.
