June Lim, the
64 year old business owner who was
murdered as she opened Grace Deli one recent morning, was the sole provider for her husband. Her husband is in poor health, and her family is now struggling financially. The home she lived in is going through a short sale, and money is very tight.
The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of DC and friends are
raising funds to help.
Her murder remains unsolved, but the motive is thought to have been robbery.

Can't make the PSA 104 meeting tonight but I hope someone asks if they have an update on the investigation into this and the face shooting incident.
I went to the meeting and the rep from the US attorneys office stated emphatically that they could not discuss ANY details of the Mrs. Lim murder investigation but that they were making it a top priority. As for the increase in gunfire activity and that crazy 50 rounds fired on 8th and L a few night ago (so much so that I thought they were fireworks...they weren't!), they know who did the shoooting and who was being shot at, but are unable (??) to arrest or detain anyone without a complaint and ID from the intended target. The police rep said the gunfire was due to a "beef" between two arguing "groups". REALLY? we are calling them "groups" now? he also called them "kids". sorry, but a 17year old drug dealer with a gun who fires 50 rounds into houses and people and cars is not a kid. he's a thug. not a kid...a THUG!
love my neigborhood but i am frustrated!
I hear you Heyktb. Just hang on. The more young, middle class homeowners that move into the neighborhood, the better it's going to get. The thugs will be pushed out. It can't happen soon enough, but it is happening.
50 rounds at 8th and L??? What the heck? When did this happen?
Thanks for sharing this, inked. My thoughts and prayers are with the Lim family. I hope they can raise enough funds to really help out and make a difference.
I also hadn't heard of this incident at 8th and L. Very scary. Anyone have more details?
Lt. Daniel Godin was the police rep at the PSA 104 meeting.

CAn someone please provide a link to the shooting on 8th and L. I never heard anything about this.
July 8th:
"Last night, shortly after midnight, First District officers responded to the area of 8th and L Streets NE for the Sound of Gunshots. After arriving on the scene, the officer did not locate anyone injured or a victim; however, officers did discover two vehicles that had been damaged and they recovered shell casings. Officers will in the 1100 block of 8th St NE and the 800 block of Florida Ave NE this evening to conduct a door-to-door canvass. The officers will be seeking any information related to the shooting last night. We appreciate you assistance as we work to address this dangerous situation."
Wow I would love to attend the meetings I live 2 blocks away from Grace Deli. My heart goes out to the family...
