First Peek at Batter Bowl Bakery
Over the years neighbors have repeatedly placed a bakery high on the list of most desired businesses for H Street. We're about to get our wish in Batter Bowl Bakery (403 H Street). Meseret Bekele and Samuel Ergete of Ethiopic (401 H Street). Batter Bowl will sell breads, pastries, cupcakes, soups, salads, and some open faced sandwiches. I’m told they will always have at least one or two vegan options available. The menu will also include waffles, pancakes, and French toast. Capacity is about 35, with seating for roughly 20 patrons. Batter Bowl will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. They anticipate opening around the start of 2013.
They are currently hiring cashiers, counter employees, and some kitchen staff.

wow. Looks fabulous. Sammy and Meseret know how to do things right. Ethiopic is consistently great and I am sure they will bring it with the new bakery. All the best to them.
awesome! Can't wait!
Wow, that looks great!
This looks amazing! The grown up end of H Street just keeps getting better and better!
When I think of a bakery, it doesn't include - waffles, pancakes, sandwhiches, dinner, etc. I think its great that they are opening this and hope that they aren't stretching their selves too thin by doing too much.
Ooh. We definitely could use a new breakfast place, so yay!
@i'm not being a hater
selling breakfast food and sandwiches, that's probably their best chance to stay afloat-
too much overhead to just be a carry out bakery.
frankly I'm more excited about the breakfast potential than anything else
breakfast!!!!!!!
and open 7 days a week!!!!
hahha grown up end...keep wishing
That's a clever name. I like you. You can have my grown up end.
I just want a good baguette and a good croissant. Please have those two things.
Y U M M Y !
Now if we could just get a full service gym on H Street I could eat lots more than I do...until then...moderation.
has anyone tried the breakfast at HR-57? I don't know when they started serving, but the menu looks good....
Sam and Meseret are awesome!
what's the east end of H then?

An Ethiopian bakery?
I was hoping for a German Konditeri mit strudel, etc.

4:44,
The owners are Ethiopian, but the bakery is not. One of the owners has a brother who worked as a pastry chef in Germany. This bakery is a European style bakery.
