Weekend East City Event Round Up: “We the Artists” Edition

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (2pm to 5pm)
The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop is hosting its Seventh Annual Photography Exhibition. The open call resulted in the selection of 23 images from 13 artists using a variety of photographic processes including black and white, color, traditional, alternative, material, and digital. Art Works Studio School (4pm to 8pm)
Presented in conjunction with the Gateway Community Development Corporation and Art Works Studio School, We the Artists will show work from artists whose studios are headquartered in the Gateway Arts District. For more information, click here.

Lisa Marie Thalhammer garnered certain amount notoriety for painting “Boxer Girl”, a DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities funded mural featuring a gay, female boxer in Bloomingdale. In Intimate Network, Thalhammer moves her visual conversation of LGBT culture into the bedroom, ultimately engaging the viewer in a discussion surrounding civila rights, marriage equality and gender identity.
