I am going to be opening a new shoe store along the H Street corridor (hoped for: around 10th and 11th street, or by 4th street.) It will be a family store, similar to the old Hahn's, but more urban, hip and also comfort oriented. Also, I want to carry both over- and under-sizes. For example a women's shoe size 2.5-4, or Men's size 5 or 16 or a ladies’ 13.5. Price points will probably be in this range: Kids @ $20-60, ladies @ $50-300, men @ $65-350.

I'm all for small businesses but I'm not sure an urban, hip, shoe store is it. Weren't shots fired a couple months ago at a similar store in the morning?

That was a sneaker release. This doesn't sound like a strictly sneaker store to me (based on the prices mentioned).

WOW! That is great. I love the specialty sizes concept. As a woman with big feet, they never have options in store for me, so buying local is rarely an option. Some Vegan options would also be AWESOME! I am happy to consult;).
Fantastic - especially if you land on the 4th street end. I've gone full Zappos for years, but the returns are still a bit of a hassle, and we don't buy our kids' shoes online because it's hard to judge sizes.
So definitely try to hit some of that StrideRite market!
Great, "More urban, hip" might as well be synonymous with more sneaker shootings. I'm not interested at all in this place.

Um, I think I would consider Banana Republic's clothing hip and urban.
Would love it if they carried some (would have to be low-end at the price range they quoted) Prada/Gucci/Dolce & Gabanna sneakers.
Or even at least some Kenneth Cole/Cole Haan/Mark Nason.
Ditto on the kids shoes. I'd love a local place that I can go and actually have the kids try them on. Since payless closed there haven't been any good nearby options.
I would absolutely love it if a Banana Republic or a Pottery Barn came to this neighborhood.

DSW has a monopoly on the DC area, and they seem to cater more to women with long slender feet. I have better luck finding shoes at thrift stores and Target, but more often I just get the same few pairs repaired over and over again.

I just want to know if all you people who are excited about this new urban hip shoe store support the current shoe stores on H? Sorry Inked, I'm skeptical of anything calling itself "urban and hip" as being a place where professionals and families with children go. And as a regular shopper of Banana Republic, I do not consider their clothes - and proudly me - as urban and hip.
I'd love to see them carry a "suburban and predictable" line. Those shoes would go great with my jeans.

Are there shoe stores on H? I've never seen any outreach by them to the community. Do they want my business? Maybe they should do some marketing and send an email to FT, like this new place.
Have you not seen the commercial with the incredibly catchy jingle, "My City, Your City, Shoe City"? I think it inspired Mayor Gray's One City campaign.
For the record...in case no one noticed.... H Street is URBAN...and Banana Republic is hip....so there ya go!

Did you even bother to read the post? There's nothing about it being a place that sells expensive sneakers. In fact, from the description, it seems the furthest thing from that.

Is this sarcasm? Rite-Aid and Bank of America never do "outreach to the community", are you aware that both of those are on H? If you seriously don't know there are shoe stores on H, you need to become more aware of your surroundings. There are four stores selling shoes I can think of off the top of my head, two at the intersection of 8th and H alone.
Will they carrier Doc Martins or John Fluevog? If not I will be very sad.
