Bike Parts Swap at Bardo Saturday
Bardo Brewpub (1200 Bladensburg Road) is hosting a bike parts swap with Gearin' Up Bicycles this Saturday at 11am ($3 suggested donation at the door if you wish to swap). If you haven't yet checked out Bardo, do so right now. They show movies every night. They welcome kids (just not after 8pm), and your well-behaved dog is even allowed to play around off leash. Several dogs were romping and playing on a recent evening. They also have cornhole. Bardo has no kitchen at the moment (they are working on the indoor space), but you can bring food. They also have a bunch of menus from local spots that will deliver to the tavern. I ordered a pizza there the other night. They are gearing up to brew their own beers, but right now the offerings are limited to maybe 10-15 craft beers on draft.

Is that projects in the back yard? Unmmm....
I finally checked out Bardo last week. I was expecting it to be cringe city but... nope. Just real people behind the bar and as patrons. No fuss. Good beer and a good place to hang out with no hassle and no pretense.
As a bonus, the setup weeds out people like anon 6:44. Very pleasantly surprised.
I don't know what the larger building in the background is, but the building that abuts the back yard is owned by Bardo and, if I recall correctly, will be an inside bar eventually.
Those apartments do look really close. Hopefully Bardo will be really considerate of the people living there, even if they are low income and don't have a real voice in what happens around them.
Are the movies captioned/subtitled?
10:07,
The first movie I saw was not. I asked about captions, & they said almost every movie they show has captions. Hit them up on Twitter to be sure.
Do they have plans to hardscape the area? I haven't been there but from what I can see in their pictures it looks like it's all grass. Eventually it's going to get trampled on enough to a point where it will be a dirt pit.
Psyched they're in the neighborhood though - I will have to stop by soon.
heh heh
I can't get down with this. I don't drink bougie beer, I have no idea what cornhole is and all of the movies are lame with no people of color featured.
3:42,
They have a couple of basic lagers. Cornhole actually a pretty fun game, and I believe DC Cab stars Mr. T.
