Statement from MPD:

It is with great pride that the Fifth Police District Command, under the leadership and direction of Patrol Commander Andrew Solberg, announces the significant arrest of two adult males in the commission of a Break In of a commercial establishment, know as the Bladensburg Market Dollar Plus, located in the 1100 Block of Bladensburg Road, NE.

Fifth Police District Midnight Patrol Units were dispatched in the early morning hours for a Burglar Alarm sounding at the Bladensburg Market Dollar Plus.  Upon their quick arrival, they observed an individual attempting to climb out of the stores open window and he was immediately detained.  A second individual was located by Officers on the stores roof and he too was detained, awaiting the arrival of Fifth Police District Detectives.

A preliminary investigation by Fifth Police District Detectives revealed that these individuals had forced entry into the Bladensburg Market Dollar Plus and both were arrested.

We would like to commend the swift and decisive actions of our Officers from the Midnight tour of duty that resulted in the arrest of these two individuals and the recovery of evidence removed from the establishment.

Unfortunately Judge Juliette McKenna will let them off with a slap on the wrist.

Of course she did. They were good boys who never did anything wrong.

Seriously, though. You figure these guys have done this multiple times, they finally get caught, and of course they get let go because it's their "first time".

I wonder where the judge lives?

Keep in mind that this was a non-violent crime and no one was hurt. You really can't hang someone for breaking a window.

What's there to steal? Bags of chips and sodas?

If we could hang people for stealing, there would be a lot less of it.

Does anyone really believe that these guys will stop at breaking a window next time? Would it be okay if it were your window they'd broken?
