More than just tacos: A salad of cactus, jicama, cucumber, and fried kale served at an earlier Impala pop-up
Are you one of the many who have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Impala Cantina y Taqueria at 1358 H Street? Your wait may be over soon. The restaurant announced via Twitter that they should open in March. Here are some pictures of the interior that appeared in WaPo last summer.

2017. the neighborhood will have changed by then too.
I hope this is right but will believe it when I see it.
I am happy that they will open soon. I'm sure they would have liked it to be sooner, but it is better to get it done right than to open before you are ready (like their neighbor, the pho place that has already shut down for good).
Impala's food at the H st fest was fantastic. I can't wait to see the upstairs.
That would be awesome if true, but I just can't get my hopes up again. Impala is like Lucy holding the football ("No, really, we're gonna open this time!"), and we're all Charlie Brown.
These guys are going to have to be good. If they opened earlier they might have been my default taco shop. In their absence I have discovered Chilango. Gonna be hard to top.
Ummm....Chilango is all the way over on U St. Who is going to that clusterfuck for a taco. Maybe they'll be open once and a while unlike Chupacabra?
