Honfleur Gallery– 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Artists Brad Fesmire, Vanessa Irzyk, and Sarah Boyts Yoder create in unison to produce a body of work expressing the exigency of their chosen materials.  Separate yet collective, Primary Urges engages the viewer in a conversation about the trio’s artistic process.  Details here.

Do you remember when MTV still showed videos?  Then you remember the apogee of the music video genre!  In Fade 2 Grey, artist Adrian Loving explores the power of androgyny through 80s music video icons such as David Bowie, Grace Jones and Boy George.  For a detailed description of the exhibition, click here.

Capitol Hill Art League CHAL– 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Shape of Things is one of CHAL’s signature group juried shows.  With over 27 regional artists selected, gallerist and juror Cat Frasier has her work cut out for her.  She will announce the winners on Saturday after opening remarks.  For a full list of exhibiting artists, click here.

Catalyst Projects– 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Sculptors Amber Robles-Gordon and Julia Bloom go two-dimensional in Sculptors Draw.    While sculptors often produce work using technical drawings to plan their creative course, in this exhibition, the artists examine drawing as a medium for expressing their creative vision.  The end result- the artists have, in effect, created portraiture derived from their three-dimensional work.  Full descriptions here.
