Here's some info on a free local history tour that I thought folks might find of interest:
Walking Tour of Historic Swampoodle: Explore DC's Rough and Tumble Irish Pastwith Architect and Neighborhood Historian Kathleen Lane
Saturday, June 7, 2014 - 10:30am
The final program in the spring Know Your Neighborhood series is a walking tour of Swampoodle, a 19th and early 20th century Irish working-class neighborhood that was largely destroyed for the construction of Union Station. Learn about the neighborhood's colorful history, and explore traces of its past on this walking tour with architect and neighborhood historian Kathleen Lane, whose family were among the earliest Irish residents.
Meet at Union Station, Information desk inside main entrance.
KNOW YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD is an ongoing series of programs exploring the history of DC neighborhoods, a collaboration between DC Public Library's Special Collections and neighborhood libraries. With each series, a different branch will host programs highlighting the communities it serves. Visit dclibrary.org/knowyourneighborhood for updates.

Man, this is the exact same time as the H St history walking tour... http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/2041/p/salsa/event/common/public/?event_KEY=76805
Are there any plans to reoffer it in the future?
