New at Union Market: dc dosa
While perusing the stalls at Union Market (1309 5th Street) this weekend I noticed a new addition (I believe it was in a space previously occupied by Gone Native). Dc dosa prepares dosas (sort of a South Indian crêpe) made with three different types of lentil bases. All of their dosas are gluten free and vegan. But don't let that convince you they lack flavor, because that is certainly not the case.
I tried a few bites of a friend's petite yellow lentil dosa ($9) filled with the roasted cauliflower and peas, and finished with the onion tamarind chutney. I liked that one, and look forward to sampling the other varieties. The dosas are not small, and one could easily make a full lunch. The complete menu appears below.

The dosas are really tasty. Priya Ammu owner of DC Dosa is looking for ASL signers who can work with her and serve the deaf community.
what is it with all of the peppers? Is this a regional thing? I don't think that the many other dosas that I've had has had so much pepper.
My life is now complete!
Where in union market is this. Locations are never posted here.
It is right opposite Cordial Wines at the back of the market.
$9 and no meat. Good work if you can get it
2:13,
Try it before you knock it. Those dosas are pretty damn filling.
Just ate there. So good! Got a mix of two of the dosa fillings, potato and cauliflower, with the three lentil dosa and cilantro chutney (spicy). Nice filling portion size. Good deal for the price. I'll be back and recommending this place.
Are there any remaining un-prepared food vendors in the Union Market? Or is its conversion to a food court now complete?
