I've gotten word that two local running groups are ready to get out and welcome spring. The Argonaut Running Club (ARC) kicks it off tonight, and H Street Runners meets Tuesday for a short run followed by a happy hour.
The Argonaut Running Club meets every Friday at 6pm. They welcome runners of all levels and routes are posted on their Facebook page before each run. The current map has 2, 4, and 6 mile options for runners. Happy hour to follow runs.
According to their Facebook page H Street Runners typically meet Tuesdays at 7pm at the corner of 11th and H. To start that will have a Spring Fun Run (~3 miles) along the Metropolitan Branch Trail. Please note that they will meet at 6:30 this time and that it will be at 5th & H (outside the Big Board, 421 H Street). Following the run they'll head to the second floor of the Big Board for happy hour (7pm). Interested parties are encouraged to RSVP.

Running Clubs on H are the new condo developments.
BOB Strollers encouraged/accepted I hope. :)
How do the H Street Runners suggest that participants prepare for the kids throwing rocks and robberies-with-gun along the MBT?
Running is better for you in the morning.
Do kids really throw rocks @ runners? That's completely pointless.
As a regular user of the MBT since it opened, I can honestly say I have never had a single negative incident. There have been a small (in the scheme of things) number of incidents like that along the trail - robbery of cyclists, for instance - but cyclists also get rocks thrown at them on 11th St NW on an occasional basis.
Worrying about this is like saying "how to visitors prepare for a trip to Europe with all those holocausts happening there"?
I carry a gun when I bike. I'll shoot a kid in the face if they throw rocks at me.
