ANC 6A Hosts an Education Forum 9/10

IMG_1487

I wanted to pass on this announcement from ANC 6A Chair Phil Toomajian about an upcoming education forum where you can learn about our local public schools, the different educational programs they offer, and how community members and the schools can partner to improve outcomes.

ANC6A will host an education forum with our local public schools, Councilmember Allen and State Board of Education Representative Joe Weedon at our monthly meeting on Thursday, September 10, at 7 pm, at Miner Elementary (601 15th St NE).  Principals and parent leaders from our community schools, including Eliot-Hine, Maury, Miner, SWS, Ludlow-Taylor, and Eastern will be present to participate in this community conversation.
This is a great opportunity for our schools to share about their programs and areas that we as a community can assist them.  It's also a great opportunity for community members to learn more about your neighborhood schools and to learn how you can support them and get involved in them now.
Our schools are one of our community's most important assets and ANC6A wants to ensure that we are doing everything we can to facilitate greater support for and communication with our local schools.  This forum is the first step in that process.  If you have questions about our neighborhood schools and are interested in getting involved at them, please contact me our your single member district commissioner.

I hope you can join us next week.
