Dream a Big Bourbon Dream at Joseph A. Magnus Distillery
Are you passionate about bourbon? Ever day-dreamed of distilling and aging your own bourbon? Now you can make that dream a reality (assuming you can scape together the $7,500) at the newly opened Joseph A. Magnus Distillery (2052 W. Virginia Avenue).
The Distillery celebrated its grand opening on September 12th. They are currently open to the public Fridays 5-9pm, Saturdays 1-9pm, and Sundays 1-5pm. They offer tours free of charge. Don't forget to stop by the Murray Hill Club (their tasting room) to try one of their cocktails. So far they have released a bourbon and a gin.
For those intrigued by distilling, Magnus currently offers a limited time opportunity they have dubbed the Dream Distiller Experience. For the price of $7,500 you can get a quick course in the art of whiskey making during a one day session at the distillery, to opportunity to distill your own bourbon from a selection of mashbills created by a former Woodford Reserve distiller, a brand new oak barrel branded with your name, four years of storage in the Magnus rickhouse, annual sampling of your bourbon so you can taste its progress, approximately 180 bottles (complete with professionally designed labels) of your bourbon bottled upon maturity in four years, bragging rights, and a lot of bourbon to share with friends and family (required federal and local taxes are included in the price).
