MPD has identified the man shot Thursday afternoon in the 1900 block of Bennett Place as 53 year of Charles Mayo of NE DC. The shooting occurred a little at 1:30pm. Mr. Mayo sustained multiple gunshots, and was transported to a local hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
MPD offers a reward of up to $25,000 who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in DC. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.

Was this connected to any other crime? Robbery, Carjacking?
Victim was 53. Seems like this is more a fit for domestic issues then drugs..
Any word on the background to the shooting?
