Local News Round Up: a PTA Boost, Failed Criminals, & Cheap Wings

Version 2

The first Tuesday night of each month is J.O. Wilson Elementary Family Night from 5-10pm at Ben's Chili Bowl (1001 H Street). Donate 10% of your purchase price to the J.O. Wilson PTA by saying the word "Cardinal."
Hill Now reports that a man unsuccessfully tried to rob the Five Guys (1300 2nd Street) Monday by slipping a threatening note to the cashier, who responded that the register was locked. The man then attempted to then order a hamburger from the same location, but was refused service. The man left empty handed, and police later made an arrest.

Halftime (1427 H Street) has a new happy hour menu with 75¢ wings and drink specials weeknights from 5-8pm.

Spicy Candy interviews Erik Bruner-Yang of Toki Underground (2nd floor of 1234 H Street) and Maketto (1351 H Street).

Touché (1123 H Street) launches their Breakfast Club Seafood and Champagne Brunch Sunday. The $35 brunch features crab legs, a waffle station, an omelet station, and more accompanied by bottomless mimosas and live entertainment (11am-4pm).

410-417 H Street? That whole strip from Ethiopic to Sidamo is going to be razed for townhouses? That seems odd...

yeah, that Curbed map is wrong and outdated

Wow. You guys are right. I should have looked more closely at that (now pulled from this post) Curbed link. The solar project is nowhere near the 400 block of H Street and plenty of other info is not the most current. I hope the other links treat you better.

Halftime is at 1427, not 1527. Sorry for the nitpick Inked! :)

Curmudgeon,
That is a straight up typo. Thanks for catching. One of the perils of not having an editor!

.75 a wing. Is that really a good deal? At the bottom of the screen it states .50 a wing. That sounds a little better.

4:21,
I went with the price they had printed on the flyer. 75 cents sounds pretty decent to me, but 50 cents would be even better.

Anon 4:21 -- Sicilian Pizza charges $10 for 10 wings; NY Pizza charges $11 for 10 wings. And that's delivery; sit-in places are typically even more expensive, I think.
