Local News Brief: Don't Bar the Bathroom, Ice Cream Sundays, & Streetcars
NBC 4 reports that a female security guard at the 3rd and H Giant grocery store has been arrested and charged with simple assault following a physical confrontation after the guard attempted to bar a transgender female customer from using the women's bathroom.
Little Baby's Ice Cream is about to start scooping on Sundays at Union Market (1309 5th Street) according to WCP's Young & Hungry. This will come as terrific news to anyone who has showed up at Union Market on a Sunday with a hankering for some of the cold creamy stuff only to remember that Trickling Springs doesn't do Sundays. You know who else should be excited about this? Vegans and anyone else who doesn't do dairy, because some of Little Baby's Ice Cream is apparently made with milk from coconuts instead of cows. Catch them starting Memorial Day weekend.
The District Fishwife is hiring. They seek a full time experienced line cook who speaks Spanish.
If you missed Tuesday's meeting on extending the streetcar to Georgetown those materials are now online. There's another meeting tonight to look at expanding the streetcar in the other direction towards the Minnesota Avenue and Benning Road stations. That meeting will take place from 6-8pm at Department of Employment Services (DOES) Building (4058 Minnesota Avenue, NE).
