Ivy City's new bar Big Chief (2002 Fenwick Street), which bills itself as "New Orleans meets Brooklyn," will open its doors Thursday. Stop by and help them celebrate with music, food, and drink. Doors open at 8 p.m.

i actually drove by here on Sunday and.... kept on moving through. the number of people loitering (and a few begging for $) was a little uncomfortable for me. i've lived in the district for over 20 years - i can't imagine how some of the newer transplants are going to feel about parking their car and walking around that area as it currently stands.

It may have to do with the men's shelter that is almost next door. That whole area has seen a huge change from just a few years ago.
