Local News Brief: REI Gears Up, Fare Wells Opens, & Jumanji at NoMa Summer Screen
The outdoor gear chain REI is gearing up for the opening of its flagship store in NoMa with 100 days of activities intended to get you outside. The United Outside campaign includes a weekend of free events July 16th and 17th. Among the events you'll find outdoor education classes related to hiking and cycling, kayak and stand up paddleboard rentals on the Potomac, and Capital Bikeshare rentals.
The store will mark its grand opening with a three day block party October 21st through 23rd.
Fare Well (406 H Street) opens today, and Eater has photos of the space. By the way, their menu is now up on their website.
Jumanji (PG) is playing at NoMa Summer Screen tonight. Doors open 7 p.m., movie starts at dark. Catch it with closed captions at Storey Park at 1005 1st Street NE. The following food trucks will be hanging out for the event: Arepa Zone, BBQ Bus, Federal City Brothers, Maki Shop, Captain Cookie and the Milkman, Popped!Republic.
