Portions of the Florida Avenue Market (Union Terminal Market) are up for historic landmark designation. You can read the
submission online, and the
Washington Business Journal also has a story up about it.
The clothing line
Everlane is holding a launch party for a new
commuter backpack line from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight at
Maketto (1351 H Street).
ProFish (1900 Fenwick Street) up in Ivy City is hiring for their marketing department.

I sincerely hope their application is denied. The existing buildings hold zero architectural historic value.
I had the spicy beef bowl a Maketto and it was ground beef. What is with this overpriced hipster hype . The chef should be proud of his Hamburger Helper skills but a brick and mortar selling food at those prices should use whole cuts of meat.
They are selling the cheapest food for the highest prices to the stupidest people!
Wendy's reported their profits were down because cheap groceries allowed people to eat at home, BUT due to their investments and market strategies they feel this will only be temporary
No mention of the Anwar and Kathy show down about the starburst? Miss K is gonna send Mr. Saleem packing back to Ward 6. Yes she is.
2:49,
It's been a busy week and I want to give the topic due attention. I plan to work on a post this weekend.
Oh, dammit, you guys are teases. I'm always hyped for a good new KH story.
@4:34, Right? What was the showdown about? What mess is KH causing these days? And will my crazy people in 5D05 elect her again?
The ANC meeting video is a six-parter that I'm not quite finished watching, but I swear a post on it is coming this week.
Old != Historic
Actually the Florida Avenue Market is historic based on the architecture and the original use...as is the Subway building located very near the market. While the buildings may not be grand as many would like...they are in fact worthy of the designation. Let's hope they elect to save them.
I have to agree with HillHound,
There's a ton of fascinating history over there and some of the architecture is quite interesting when you stop to look at it.
