News Brief: Fundraiser for Queen Vic Bartender, News & Brews, & a Sandwich Pop Up
Folks are raising money to help cover some medical bills for the family of Queen Vic (1206 H St.) bartender Joe Schinosi. So far the group is 23% per to their goal of $25,000. You can read more about Joe, his family, and the medical costs on the Generosity.com (part of INDIEGOGO) support page.
The Washington Business Journal is selling tickets to their News and Brews at Wunder Garten (First and L Street NE) on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.. Meet the Business Journal team, do a little networking, and have a drink. Tickets are $35 for paid subscribers to the paper (includes two drink tickets, and a commemorative glass), or you can buy the $130 ticket that includes the drinks and glass listed above, plus a one year subscription to the WBJ.
Jessica Sidman of Washingtonian reports the latest news on Gravitas (1401 Okie St.), which has seen their anticipated opening date delayed by a wall collapse. Sidman writes that Chef Matt Baker will hold a series of sandwich shop pop ups at Big Chief in Ivy City (2002 Fenwick St.). It's a Friday and Saturday only affair that starts Oct. 21, and runs through mid-November.
