Local Briefing: The Silver Screen & Screen Printing
The Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H St.) wraps up its Silent Film Series with a screening of Charlie Chaplin's The Kid accompanied with a live score from composer and pianist Andrew Earle Simpson. The 1921 comedy-drama stars Chaplin and child actor Jackie Coogan, who would later play Uncle Fester on The Addams Family. The film tells the story of a child taken in as an infant and raised as a son by Chaplin's character, until authorities at an orphanage intervene and try to separate the family.
Catch it Sunday, Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. Tickets are $20.
Multiple local places are partnering with Silver Spring based Soul & Ink for Drink & Ink events at which attendees can enjoy cocktails or beer (events at different locations vary a bit, so check individual listings), and pull a few screen prints of their own (two posters and a coster).
