Ivy City's One Eight Distilling (1135 Okie St.) will celebrate their second anniversary with a special boozy birthday brunch on Sunday, Jan. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. They'll have bloody mary sampling flights and other cocktails, as well as oysters from S.S. Shucking, tarts from Black Pearl Tarts, and Ivy City Smokehouse (1356 Okie St.) smoked salmon on bagels.
@Eat_DC sends word Mexican restaurant La Puerta Verde (2001 Fenwick St.) will open its doors Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 5 p.m.
In additional exciting Ivy City news, Eater reports that Ari's Diner (2003 Fenwick St.) has expanded its hours and started dinner service. They will now stay open until 9 p.m. Brightest Young Things has some details (and lots of photos) about the place if you haven't made it over yet.
To the south a bit, the New York Times covers the recent historic designation for Union Terminal Market, a portion of the Florida Avenue Market that is also home to Union Market (1309 Fifth St.).

Ari's Diner is great! So glad there is a diner spot like them nearby! Can't wait to try the dinner option!
