Local Briefing: No Leaf Blowers on the X2, Monday Brunch, & Sally's Middle Name Welcomes Fall

Reader Pat Bahn sent in an NBC4 piece on yet another X2 bus incident. The article details how the things turned ugly after a bus driver informed a group of three men that they could not bring a leaf blower aboard and X2 bus. One of the men allegedly pulled on the plastic shield that protects the driver, and another threw an empty sterno can against that same shield, after which all three individuals ran away.  Two of the three were later arrested.

For those of you who have a day off you can hide from the rain at Union Market (1309 Fifth Street NE), which will be open today. Hours of operation may vary by individual vendor. DC Harvest (517 H Street NE) will host a Columbus Day brunch. You can see a photo of their new pumpkin brioche baked french toast with cranberry curd in the flyer at the bottom of this post. The Big Board (421 H Street NE), which celebrated its sixth birthday this weekend, will serve brunch for Indigenous People's Day from 11:30 am to 3 pm.

Sally's Middle Name (1320 H Street NE) is embracing our transition into fall with a special dinner tomorrow starting at 7 pm. It's five courses for $75, including Potter's Craft Cider drink parings and cheese pairings from Righteous Cheese (Union Market, 1309 Fifth Street NE) with each course. Tickets and the full menu are available online.
