W.S. Jenks & Son Hardware (910 Bladensburg Road NE), yoga instructor Stephanie Legarda, and Cultivate the City are teaming up for a special rooftop yoga session to benefit the people of Puerto Rico in their time of need. The class is $20 and all proceeds will be donated to United for Puerto Rico.
“As I watched what was happening in Puerto Rico following the hurricane, I wanted to find a creative way to help in the relief and recovery effort,” said Legarda. “A charity Yoga class was an idea that I knew could generate significant funds to send to those affected by the disaster and I am excited for the opportunity to bring the community together to help fellow Americans in their time of need. I appreciate W.S. Jenks & Son and Cultivate the City for their work in making this event possible.”
This is the 6th yoga class on the roof at W.S. Jenks, but the first for a charity event. “Having a garden on a rooftop that overlooks the Capitol Building creates a unique venue for outdoor community events,” said W.S. Jenks owner Jerry Siegel. “It is encouraging that a local citizen would think of including us in their plans to help with the hurricane relief effort. We have a great space, and we want people in Trinidad and all throughout DC to take advantage of the opportunities at our building.”
