Solid State Books (soon to open at 600 H Street NE) and the Pug (1234 H Street NE) are teaming up to celebrate Veterans Day with a book signing to be held at the latter this coming Saturday (6–8pm). Author Craig Grossi will sign copies of his book Craig & Fred, the story of a U.S. Marine, the stray dog he met on an Afghan battlefield, and how they saved each other. Solid State will sell copies of the book at the event. For every book sold at the event author Craig Grossi will donate $5 (which the Pug will match) to the non-profit Veterans Writing Project. The Veteran's Writing Project believes every veteran has a story, and "provide[s] no-cost writing seminars and workshops for veterans, service members, and their adult family members" to help ensure those stories are told. The group also publishes a quarterly literary review, and is building an archive of writing by members of the military community.
Solid State Books is currently hiring booksellers for their soon to open H Street store.
