The location where Edward Ferrell was fatally shot
43 year-old Edward Ferrell of NE was fatally shot early yesterday in Ivy City. Police responding to a report of gun fire around 5am yesterday entered an apartment building in the 1900 block of Capitol Avenue NE and found Ferrell "suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso." Emergency services tried unsuccessfully to revive Ferrell. According to a WJLA (ABC 7) story, Ferrell was shot five times.

MPD offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
In a presumably unrelated incident early that morning (3:23am) someone opened fire on an occupied vehicle in the 1200 block of Bladensburg Road NE. One occupant sustained minor injuries from broken glass. Police are investigating the incident as an "Assault with a Dangerous Weapon Gun."

5 times. FIVE. Clearly the intent was not just to threaten, scare or intimidate. Clearly the intent was not to injure. Clearly, the intent was loss of life. I google mapped the address. The "apartment complex" appears to be adjacent to a building that offers a number of services, including clothing and prayer. I mean... when even religion fails these perps, you have to wonder... You can blame the "system", but that system invariable includes the religious structure inherent within this person's socio-economic strata.
Or maybe they were just another 'bad apple'.
If so, we have a problem with the agricultural system as well.
