I missed the news over the holidays, but on Friday MPD announced the arrest of 22 year-old Barry Marable for the fatal shooting of 22 year-old Roger "Tom" Marmet. On Oct. 24 Marmet was stopped at a traffic light at 17th and Bladensburg Road NE when he has struck by a stray bullet. Marmet was a volunteer who had committed to a year with the group So Others Might Eat (SOME). He was on his way home from his job as a volunteer social worker when he was killed. Marable has been charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated). Per the WTOP story below Marble is being held without bail and his next court appearance is set for Jan. 11. That story cites court documents suggesting Marable was likely aiming for a man he had encountered at a nearby gas station.

Once again someone previously sentenced under the Youth Rehabilitation Act and given 0 jail time despite a prior criminal record, including a crime with a weapon, and several fugitive warrants.
