The City Paper's Laura Hayes reported yesterday that KitchenCray Cafe will bring the food of Chef JR Robinson to 1301 H St. NE. You may recognize Robinson from his time as a Hell's Kitchen contestant. According to the article the menu (Cajun influenced soul food) will be similar to Robinson's restaurant in Lantham, Maryland. Think fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, lobster mac and cheese, and chicken biscuits with sausage gravy. The eatery will occupy 3,000 square feet on the first floor of the Lucille condo building.
Masseria (1340 Fourth St. NE) is accepting applications for a sommelier, and for line cooks.
Clean Up the Neighborhood
Neighbors in Trinidad are hosting a clean up this Saturday. Meet up with the group at 9am in the 1200 block of Florida Avenue NE. You can pick up trash bags and coffee (please bring your own mug) in front of 1238 Florida Ave. The clean up will focus on the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Florida Avenue, the 1100 block of Montello, and the 1200 block of Morse. The blocks have been adopted by our neighbors David and Danielle through the Clean City DC program.
