We apparently had three assaults involving knives in the area yesterday, but I only see alerts for two of those. An alert went out yesterday at 11:10am for a stabbing in the 1700 block of Benning Road NE. The original alert (below) contained a lookout, but I don't have any information on the status of the victim.

Stabbing Investigation in the 1700 block of Benning Rd NE. Lookout for B/M, 20'S, 5'9", Tall, medium complexion, full beard, long dreadlocks, light blue jeans, and a Carolina blue shirt.

The second alert was sent at 10:56pm last night, about a stabbing in the 1200 block of Meigs Place NE, but it sounds like this actually occurred several hours earlier. According to an email from 5D Lieutenant Jeffrey E. Kopp, at approximately 5:50pm a man approached a woman, produced a knife, and then stabbed the victim in the back. The victim "was able to flee the scene, and drove herself to the hospital" and spoke to police. She was reportedly in stable condition as of early this morning. The text of the original alert is below, but Kopp's email differs from the alert just slightly in suspect description details ("30-40 years old, 5'5", medium complexion, stocky build, full beard, mohawk hair style, wearing blue jean shorts and a white t-shirt with green and red graphics").

Stabbing in the 1200 block of Meigs Place NE. Lookout for B/M, 5'6", 30's, stocky build, dark complexion Mohawk hairstyle fleeing in an unknown direction.

Early this morning Lt. Kopp sent an email to a local listserve about a third assault involving a knife, this time on K Street NE. About 11:40pm 5D officers arrived in the 1000 block of Bladensburg Road NE in response to a report of an assault. A woman explained that she had been involved in a verbal argument with another woman in the 1600 block of K Street NE. While they were arguing the second woman "produced a knife, grabbed the complainant by the throat, and punched the complainant in the eye." The victim suffered minor injuries, and the suspect was arrested without further incident.

If you have information about either of the first two incidents you can contact MPD by calling (202) 727-9099, or texting the tip line (you can remain anonymous) at 50411.
