The H Street Festival is headed our way this Saturday. That means tons of live music, food, vendors of all sorts. Most businesses will remain open during the festival, but some restaurants may run an abbreviated menu. I don't have a ton of details about what to expect beyond the usual fun from past years, and I think your best bet is to ask or check social media/newsletters from a particular business if you want to know what they have planned.
I do know that AtlasVet (1326 H St. NE) will be open, and are running a 25% off your exam fee special for those who book appointments to take place during the festival (current clients only, does not apply to technician or urgent care visits). It's a good deal if you live nearby (closed streets mean walking Fido down) and your pet won't panic walking in a crowd.
Here's an official press release that organizers put out Friday.
Announcing the 2019 H Street Festival
Washington, DC—The 2019 H Street Festival will take place on Saturday, September 21 from noon – 7 p.m. This will be the best festival ever, spanning 11 blocks of H Street NE and featuring 14 staging areas and more than 250 businesses, restaurants, community organizations and vendors. Those coming to the Festival to enjoy music, contests and other entertainment, won’t be disappointed. There will also be dance performances from a variety of cultures and disciplines, martial arts demonstrations and many more non-musical acts.
For those coming to eat and drink, this year’s Festival will offer a bounty of delectable edibles and libations. The culinary offerings will span everything from American staples such as burgers and ice cream to exotic and uncommon dishes from all corners of the world. And for those festivalgoers who come hoping to enjoy some spirits, there will be multiple beer and liquor gardens and bars and restaurants up and down the street will open their establishments to participate. Other attractions include a pie eating contest, dog fashion contest, pro wrestling demo, Turkish coffee grinds fortune readings and a Earth, Wind & Fire karaoke contest. In addition, Walt Disney Pictures will be showcasing a “Wing Wall” mural installation photo opportunity for their upcoming movie, MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL and CW50 will have an installation for their upcoming show, Batwoman, as well as the couch from the show Friends and a Central Perk set up display.
