Trinidad Ivy City Garden Club Project Saturday!
The Trinidad Ivy City Community Garden Club is hosting an event Saturday morning & any interested parties are invited. There will be yard work & flower planting galore. Check out these before shots if you want a sneak peak at the site.
When: The action starts at 8am and goes until whenever.
Where: The 1200 block of Montello (the intersection of Montello & Morse).
You could always just show up, but it might be a good idea to give us a heads-up so we can make sure we have enough tools & gloves. To get in touch join the Yahoo group "trinidadivycitygardenclub," email me by using the mail to function on the profile page, or call Thalia at 202-397-7470.
FYI- The center house became vacant after it was torched, three years ago, by a serial arsonist. Also, not pictured is the severly overgrown lot (to the right of these houses) that is owned by the city & (in theory) maintained by a contractor.

If that overgrown lot you mention is truly owned by the city (check the address's land records, then contact GROW DC). GROW DC will help you through the process of getting city approval to let you turn the lot into a community garden, PLUS it gives sizeable annual grants for starting a community garden.
The lot definitely is city property & I will have to look into the GROW DC angles. We have certainly been discussing different groups we could contact, but this one looks like one to investigate.
